The macabo comes from a vegan, gluten-free plant, also called “macabo”. It is a tropical plant that loves shade, hence its predominance in Amazonia and subtropical Africa.
Our 100% macabo tuber crisps are “gluten-free” and “pro vegan”. They are very rich in antioxidants and easy to digest thanks to their starch content.
They are ideal for diabetics and have shown their usefulness against osteoporosis, gastrointestinal disorders as well as gastrointestinal cancers.
The macabo, from its scientific name “Xanthosoma sagittifolium”, is called “baombè” in Cameroon. There, it is also eaten grated and cooked in leaves. Which gives it an indescribable taste.
